Drawing from Laban Movement Analysis (LMA), participants will delve into the intricate relationship between movement and emotional expression. Through theoretical frameworks and experiential exercises, counselors will learn how to observe, interpret, and integrate movement patterns into their therapeutic practice. This course empowers counselors to enhance their understanding of nonverbal communication, facilitate embodied awareness, and promote holistic healing in their clients.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to...

  • Understand the foundational principles of Laban Movement Analysis and its relevance to therapeutic practice.

  • Recognize and interpret movement patterns as indicators of emotional states, interpersonal dynamics, and psychosomatic experiences.

  • Integrate Laban Movement Analysis into the therapeutic process to enhance client self-awareness, expression, and exploration.

  • Apply Laban's Effort qualities and Space harmonies to tailor therapeutic interventions to meet the unique needs and preferences of clients.

  • Utilize movement-based interventions to address a range of clinical issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and relational challenges.
