Laban Movement Analysis for Therapists offers therapists and artists an in-depth exploration of movement as a therapeutic tool. Drawing from Laban Movement Analysis (LMA), participants will delve into the intricate relationship between movement and emotional expression. Through theoretical frameworks and experiential exercises, counselors will learn how to observe, interpret, and integrate movement patterns into their therapeutic practice. This course empowers counselors to enhance their understanding of nonverbal communication, facilitate embodied awareness, and promote holistic healing in their clients.

 

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to...

 

  • Understand the foundational principles of Laban Movement Analysis and its relevance to therapeutic practice.

  • Recognize and interpret movement patterns as indicators of emotional states, interpersonal dynamics, and psychosomatic experiences.

  • Integrate Laban Movement Analysis into the therapeutic process to enhance client self-awareness, expression, and exploration.

  • Apply Laban's Effort qualities and Space harmonies to tailor therapeutic interventions to meet the unique needs and preferences of clients.

  • Utilize movement-based interventions to address a range of clinical issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and relational challenges.

These objectives empower therapists and artists to deepen their therapeutic and creative work by integrating movement as a rich and expressive modality. Through experiential learning and case studies, participants will develop practical skills to facilitate embodied insight, emotional processing, and transformative growth in their clients.

 

At the end of this workshop, participants will receive a certificate stating they have completed this 15 Hour course with a short course description. This workshop provides 1 credit hour for Drama Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapy students.

 

Center for Creative Arts Therapy has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7460. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Center for Creative Arts Therapy is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
