About Ciara Athy

Ciara Athy is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR). Ciara has worked with clients of all ages at The Center for the past two years. Her clinical strengths include leading groups, working with children and adolescents, processing life transitions, supporting families affected by divorce, and supporting individuals with anxiety.

Ciara is also skilled in directing creative art-based interventions through telehealth/virtual counseling sessions. She incorporates person-centered, strengths based, and Adlerian counseling-art therapy techniques. To have a positive therapeutic experience, Ciara believes it is important to develop a holistic understanding of the client. This includes exploring a client’s previous experience with treatment, as well as the client's identity, culture, and community.

The therapeutic and creative interventions Ciara prompts client's to engage in are modified based on a client's presentation, experiences, and their interests. By recognizing a client’s needs and illuminating their strengths, Ciara works to create a space where clients may gain insight and become empowered to shine on their own.

Unique Approach to Therapy

What makes my approach unique? I am regularly asking for feedback from my clients. How is the treatment going? Are we addressing issues you care about? Do you feel you are making measurable progress? At the Center for Creative Arts Therapy, we help people actively engage in making therapy as useful and user friendly as possible. We use this feedback to improve treatment methods, guide therapist training and improve overall customer satisfaction. We believe this patient-centered approach makes the Center for Creative Arts Therapy world-class.

Specialized & Extended Training

What makes Ciara Athy stand out is her high level of education and experience. She, along with all Center for Creative Arts Therapy therapists, attends at least 120 hours of extensive ongoing training and personal development per year in treating anxiety, depression, work stress, and relationship problems. This rigorous instruction differentiates Ciara from others in the field and allows her to provide the highest quality of service to clients.
